Project Description:
The grant-funded project, supported by HUF 45.49 million in European Union funding, has been successfully completed. Within the framework of the project, we developed both the manufacturing technology and the related prototype machining tool required for the cutting of technical ceramics.
During our research, our primary goal was to find solutions for the post-processing of small-series technical ceramics, which are typically produced using conventional injection molding technology. In cases where the desired tolerance of the finished component is unlikely to be achieved due to the limitations of the manufacturing process, the cutting techniques we examined may be of particular importance.
Based on our measurements and evaluations, we were able to confirm that tool life and productivity indicators changed in a similar way for the technical ceramics we tested as they do with commonly known general cutting methods. These relationships were also observed with different cooling methods and tool materials. However, in productions with varying budgets and batch sizes, it is important to determine the most appropriate technology for the specific task.
